About the Course
What is the Legend of Wellness?

The Legend of Wellness is a trimester-long high school health course built around an engaging, quest-based learning model. Students explore important health topics through 28 chapters organized into 9 themed units, completing activities, vocabulary practice, and culminating assessments at the end of each unit.

The course is designed to meet current health education standards and is regularly updated to reflect the most relevant topics for today's teens โ€” covering everything from nutrition and fitness to mental wellness, healthy relationships, and personal safety.

The course website brings it all together in one place. Students can access chapter materials, vocabulary games, interactive activities, and their personal progress tracker from any device โ€” school Chromebook, phone, tablet, or home computer.

Course Content
Unit Highlights

The course is organized into 9 units called Realms, building from foundational wellness concepts through more advanced health topics. Here are highlights from the first five units.

๐ŸฐHealth & Wellness FoundationsUnit 1โ–ถ
Students explore what it means to be truly healthy โ€” not just physically, but mentally, socially, and emotionally. Key topics include the health triangle, goal-setting, building healthy habits, and understanding how daily choices affect long-term wellbeing. Students begin tracking a personal health habit of their choice over two weeks.
๐Ÿง Mental & Emotional HealthUnit 2โ–ถ
Students learn healthy ways to understand and manage their emotions, build self-esteem and resilience, and handle stress effectively. The unit emphasizes recognizing when to ask for help and how to support peers who may be struggling. Conversations about mental health are approached with care and encouragement.
๐Ÿ’žRelationships & Communication SkillsUnit 3โ–ถ
This unit focuses on what makes relationships healthy and respectful โ€” with friends, family, and peers. Students practice communication skills, conflict resolution, and refusal skills through discussion and role-play. The goal is to help students build confidence navigating real social situations.
๐Ÿฅ—Nutrition & Physical ActivityUnit 4โ–ถ
Students learn the basics of balanced nutrition, how to read food labels, and how to spot misleading diet claims. Physical activity guidelines, the benefits of movement for mental health, and building a personal fitness plan are also covered. Students complete a one-week activity log as part of this unit.
โš™๏ธHow the Body WorksUnit 5โ–ถ
Students take a practical look at the body's major systems โ€” skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, and digestive โ€” and how they work together to keep us healthy. The unit includes personal health care habits, recognizing warning signs, and understanding how lifestyle choices affect each system over time.

How Can I Support My Student?

Health education is most effective when it continues at home. Here are concrete ways to reinforce what students are learning:

๐Ÿ’ฌ
Ask What They Learned
"What realm are you on?" is a great conversation starter. Students who can explain a concept have truly learned it. Ask them to teach you something from their current chapter.
๐ŸŽฎ
Play the Games Together
All 15 games are open to anyone. Pull up Myth Busters or Would You Rather at home โ€” you might be surprised what you learn alongside your student.
๐Ÿงช
Try the Habit Tracker
In Realm I, students choose a health habit to build over 2 weeks. Ask about their habit โ€” even better, try it alongside them for accountability and bonding.
๐Ÿ“ฑ
Know the Fentanyl Facts
The single most important safety message: any pill not from a licensed pharmacy can be lethal. Please reinforce this at home. It applies to anything offered at a party, school, or through social media.

๐Ÿ”’ A Note on Privacy & Data

The Legend of Wellness website is public โ€” any parent or guardian can view everything at doppsclass.com. All chapter PDFs, games, and activities are openly accessible without any account.

The student quest tracker requires a simple account: students register with their class period code, last name, a chosen display name, and a 4-digit PIN they set themselves. This information is stored securely on Supabase (a US-based cloud database), not on the student's device. No email address, phone number, or sensitive personal information is collected.

The Hall of Heroes leaderboard is public and shows each student's chosen display name, avatar, XP, and progress. Last names are never displayed. Students control their own display name when they create their account.

If you have concerns about any specific content or your student's data, please reach out directly to Mr. Dopp. We welcome that conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Parents Ask Us
Does my student need to create an account or give personal information? +
All chapter PDFs, games, and vocabulary tools require no account. The quest tracker does require a simple account โ€” students enter their class code, last name, a display name, and a self-chosen PIN. No email, phone number, or sensitive information is collected. Progress is saved to a secure cloud database so students can access their quest from any device.
Can my student access the site from home? +
Yes โ€” the site works on any device with a browser: phone, tablet, laptop, or Chromebook. Visit doppsclass.com to access everything. All games and chapter content are available with no special software or downloads.
Why is health education taught as a "game"? +
Research consistently shows that students retain information better when it's presented in engaging, low-stakes formats. The game structure โ€” quests, boss battles, badges โ€” creates motivation without reducing the seriousness of the content. Every game question comes directly from the textbook. The Health Jeopardy boss battle covers the same material as a traditional test, but with higher engagement and lower anxiety.
Is the content age-appropriate? +
Yes. All content is written for high school students and aligns with standard health education curriculum. Topics like STIs and substance abuse are covered factually and without graphic content โ€” with the same approach as any accredited high school health course. If you have specific concerns about any topic, please contact Mr. Dopp directly.
How is the course graded? +
Grading is determined by Mr. Dopp and follows school policy. The website's quest tracker and leaderboard are supplemental tools โ€” they're designed to motivate students, not to replace formal assessment. Check your school's grading system or contact Mr. Dopp for specifics on how assignments and boss battles factor into grades.
My student seems uncomfortable with something they learned. What should I do? +
That discomfort is often a sign that important content landed. Health education is meant to be informative, sometimes even uncomfortable โ€” that's how it changes behavior. If your student has questions or seems distressed, we encourage an open conversation. You can also contact Mr. Dopp directly, and your school counselor is always available as a resource.
I noticed something on the site I have concerns about. Who do I contact? +
Please reach out directly to Mr. Dopp through your school's standard communication channels. The website is built and maintained by the teacher and is updated regularly โ€” feedback from parents is genuinely welcome and helps improve the course.
